GUITARFEST AT APPSTATE IS NO APRIL FOOLERY!

Thats right folks, no "April Fools" here.  The 18th annual GuitarFest, April 12-14, at Appalachian State University is just 12 short days away. This year the event, under the direction of Douglas James, professor of guitar at the university,  will host such notables as the Amdeus Duo, Deiter Hennings and Stephen Robinson.  This is a special treat for me personally having met Stephen Robinson at the GuitarFest in 1998 when I got to play for him in a masterclass.  This year at least one of my students may get the opportunity to play for him in masterclass with me as the observer.

This event is special to me having attending the 3rd annual GuitarFest while I was a guitar student at UNC Pembroke.  This is where I began to meet the artist who have become friends and helped me to build a program of such benefit to my students.  I have tried to share this experience with my students ever since.  This year, Drew Agans will make his last trip to AppState with me as a student while fellow student Nick Degarmo will make his first.

The website is www.music.appstate.edu/news-events/guitarfest.org has complete information on the event.

Thanks Doug for all you do!
